FREE ROSE PATTERN
Here is a simple little rose for you to have fun with
Brushes:
3/8 Angle Shader, 0 Liner.
PAINTS:
MATISSE FLOW
Titanium White
Raw Sienna
Deep Rose
Antique Gold
Paynes Grey
Cadmium Yellow
Diox Purple
ROSES
1... Load Angle Shader Brush with raw sienna and paint a circle, add Cad Yellow
to your brush and paint a rough centre,
2... Load Raw sienna to the Heel (short end of the shader) and White to the Toe
(Long end of the Shader) Blend well on palette.. Add extra white to the tip of
the toe of brush, this will make a ridge and create a highlight to the outside
edge of the petal.
Paint the first row of eight petals around the outside of the circle. Do not
wash the brush. You may need to add a little water to your brush. Do this by
placing the chisel edge only in the water tub then blend again.
3...Add Deep Rose Madder to the Heel and White to the Toe of the brush, blend,
add extra white to the toe only.
Paint second row of seven petals in between the first row, creating a layered
look.
4.. Using the same colour loading, paint the third row of three petals across
the top of the rose inside the second row.
5... Using "S" stroke join the last three petals, wash brush and then load with
the white to the tip of the toe only. Repeat the same "S" stroke a little lower
to form a second petal.
6.... Centres.
Mix a little Deep Rose Madder with Paynes Grey and shade in shadow area of
centre, this can be a scrumble effect. Wash brush and scrumble a little cad
yellow for highlight, use stylus to dot with all both colours plus a few white
ones.
7...Background to Leaves.
Using your angle shader load with washes of Paynes Grey, then antique Gold and
CrossHatch leaf areas. Leave some spaces for touches of Diox Purple. Keep the
darkest areas closest to the rose., remember this will take lots of water to
keep the colours soft so that your rose is not overshadowed by your background.
8... Using 0 Liner outline your leaves, keep the lines nice and fine, again not
to overshadow your rose.
9... Using a mix of Diox Purple and White on your Angle Shader, brush one side
of the leaves.
I do hope you enjoy painting my rose.
Happy Painting
